New contract negotiations
  • Discussions underway with
  • Department of Health
  • NHS Confederation representing PCTs
  • Target implementation date April 2004
  • Contractors will be balloted on the new contract

New contract - structure
  • Core services offered by all contractors
  • Additional services which will eventually be
    provided by all contractors
  • Local services agreed nationally, but
    commissioned locally by PCTs
  • Contract gradually develops over time new
    services added at all levels
