- through the British Library's Endangered Archives
programme (and following on from that after the
project ended) we've digitised 25,000 pages of
pre-1930 records of the Leipzig Mission, of which
the originals are in the archive of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania's archive
in Moshi, Tanzania. Copies have been / are being
deposited (on DVDs) in - Tanzanian National Archives, Dar es Salaam
(master copy) - British Library, London
- University of Leipzig, Institut fuer Afrikanistik
- the Moshi archive itself.
- I hope to publish a list of these records soon in
my series "Mission Archives" (sub-series of
University of Leipzig Papers on Africa).

9Our identity and objective
- The main contributor to our collections is the
Norwegian Missionary Society, founded in
Stavanger 1842. - We also have a number of collections from
individuals, particularly missionaries. - In additions comes material from other
organizations and institutions. - Our aim is to offer professional assistance on a
high academic level to all visitors and users.

12Availability of material
- Some handwritten manuscripts have been
transcribed, partly with word processors. - Some documents have been translated into English,
French and Malagasy. - We are in the process of digitizing material,
such as documents, photos and 16 mm films.

- The Petersen memoirs from Madagascar
- A 140 page manuscript in Norwegian has been
transcribed and published on our website. - Originally written in Flaxton, North Dakota, in
1904, when Peterson was serving as a Lutheran
pastor there, reflecting on missionary work in
western Madagascar 1893-1900. - Perhaps an English translation would be
appreciated?

- Lars Vig, who served in Madagascar 1874-1902, is
presented on our website with a Special
collection - Several letters and reports in Norwegian have
been translated into French.

- Documentation of Christianity in Asia Consortium
the Divinity Library is partnering with schools
in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Thailand. - The Latourette Initiative for the Documentation
of World Christianity a proactive program to
preserve and provide access to the documentation
of world Christianity - Nanking Massacre digital archive

consolidated record of documentation.

22Kenneth Scott Latourette Initiative
- Yale Divinity School Library and Uganda Christian
University have engaged in a pilot project to
digitize (and create microfilm of) documents from
the Church of the Province of Uganda (Anglican)
archives. - More than 150,000 pages digitized to date
23The finding aid for the collection has been
enhanced with more detaileddescription and links
will be made between the finding aid and the
digitalimages of the documents.
