Graduate College Governance

• Graduate Council
• Composed of representatives from each of the six
  colleges
• Representative number based on number of graduate
  faculty number of graduate students enrolled
  each academic year
• Meet monthly to determine policies, review new
  and proposed courses, appoint graduate faculty

What Do We Do For Students?

• Accept and admit graduate students into Health
  Sciences Center Graduate Programs
• Monitor graduate student progress
• Approve and process the appointments of Graduate
  Assistants (GRAs, GAs, GTAs)
• Perform final degree check
• Grant graduate degrees certificates
• Oversee academic appeals and cases
• of academic misconduct where
• appropriate

Preparing Future Faculty

• One-year interdisciplinary program comprised of a
  two-course sequence designed to offer students a
  specialization in the professorate
• Open to 2nd yr MS/ PhD after general exam
• Fall
• "Methods" course contains didactic and
  demonstration
• units to familiarize students with the
  research,
• teaching, and service demands of an
• academic position.
• Spring
• Laboratory or practicum participants
• teamed with mentor to gain teaching
• experience. Experiences may be at
• neighboring institutions.
