Poor(er) Design (Tate)
  • Highly cluttered
  • Extremely poor page layout
  • Extremely small font size
  • Poor image quality

20
Good design (Elena)
Multilingual dictionary Simple clean design Easy
to use References to encyclopedias and special
dictionaries. Saves a lot of time
21
Bad Design (Elena)
  • Green actually is one of my favorite colors,
but probably not as a background for any
    web-page. ?
  • The combination of colors is bad in general.
It is difficult to see the text

You can find examples of bad or good design
everywhere
  • Power window controls
  • Almost every car has the window controls
(manual or power) on the door panel. The PT
Cruiser, however, has them on the control panel,
in the middle of the car, so every time that
anyone who wants to open the window spends a long
time figuring where the controls are.
  • Converter from 240 V to 120 V
  • The design of the portable converter makes
it compact and with clean lines. However, it was
never tested in European sockets. The prongs of
the plug are not long enough to reach into the
recessed sockets that are now the norm. (I bought
it myself and had really hard time to work on my
    computer)

More examples
  • Linda Brasil de Botic
  • A perfume created especially to honor women.
Upon opening, the package blooms like a flower.
Pastel shades of green, yellow, and gold accent
the appeal of this limited edition package.
  • Institutional Re-Closable Lid
  • This new lid has a finger-operated slide
control that opens and closes the drinking hole.
Because the slide can be used with one hand, and
equally effectively with either the left or
right, the lid can be quickly and conveniently
opened and closed, thus assuring greater
    spill-security.

More examples
  • Bad Design
  • Schwarzkopf Henkel (a few years ago)
shampoo and conditioner looked identical (it was
especially typical for products designed for
    men).
  • Last year my friend bought a bottle of
    conditioner instead of shampoo.
  • Good design
  • it looks like the company paid attention to
this fact and now you can easily distinguish the
bottles as they have different colored cups
