  • Born April 28, 1937 in Tikrit
  • Born to poor farming family was raised by
    widowed mother and other relatives (he had no
    father figure during his childhood)
  • Attended secondary school in Iraq as well as
    Syria and Egypt
  • Graduated college from the College of Law in
    Cairo

Political Seeds
  • Joined Arab Baath Socialist Party (which was
    against the government) in 1956
  • Arrested while in secondary school for six months
    from 1958 - 1959
  • Sentenced to death in February 1960
  • Escaped to Syria in 1962
  • Returned to Iraq a year later

  • Arrested for being part of Baath Party a second
    time
  • While still in jail, selected as Deputy-Secretary
    General of Baath party
  • Escaped imprisonment in 1967 to take over his
    leadership role in the Baath party

    to the destruction and swift movement of UN
    ground forces
  • Saddam was forced to hide in underground bunkers
  • Had to suppress uprisings from his own country
    men after Bush declared cease-fire

  • Forced to re-organize all that was destroyed in
    war government, communication network, and trade
    with foreign countries
  • Condemned by the entire world
  • Re-establish country as respectable, along with
    his personal image

  • Disliked by most of the world due to his over
    aggressive nature
  • Compared to being the Hitler of the 90s
  • Didnt kill as many people as Hitler, but did
    attack and kill many of his people, just like
    Hitler
