Fruit Problem
  • If oranges cost 12p each and pears cost 1 for
    10, which fruit is cheaper?
  • How many more pears than oranges could I buy for
    2?

School Book Problem
  • A school book costs 24p and a ruler costs 32p.
    How many more books could I buy than rulers for
    1? How much change would I have?
  • If I had to buy a book and ruler set - how many
    sets could I buy for 5.00?

Cinema Problem
  • John and Mary want to go to the cinema. They have
    5.00 to spend. John catches a bus, costing 38p
    for the trip. Mary goes in a taxi, which costs
    1.50. When they leave the cinema, they still had
    1.22.
  • How much did they spend on the cinema tickets?

    change would I get from 1.50, if I bought 3
    apples and a banana?
  • 2) I buy a pizza for 90p. If I shared it between
    6 people, how much would each slice cost? How
    many slices of pizza could I buy for 5.00?
  • 3) John has twice as many Pokemon cards as
    Gregory. If Gregory has 32 cards, how many cards
    does John have? If John had 32 cards, how many
    would Gregory have?
  • 4) Sally, Jane and Sue each have a car. If each
    woman takes 1 1/2 hours to drive to London. What
    was the total time to drive three cars to
    London.? If each of the cars use 1 litre of
    petrol to drive 10 miles, and London is70 miles
    away, how many lires of petrol were used in
    total?
