26Grant Writing 101
- Financial status statement
- Start early
- Identify the right funding source
- Follow the grant guidelines exactly as stated
- Obtain IRB approval in advance if possible
- Avoid redundancy write clearly and concisely
- Proof separately for spelling, grammar content
- Gather additional required documents
- Be patient, it can take 4-6 months for review
- If rejected, inquire as to reason
- Fail often to succeed sooner!
