15Fitness Gram Senate Bill 78
- Students will be tested in 6 different areas of
fitness at the end of their 9th grade year. - Students must pass 5 of the 6 areas in order to
pass the Fitness Gram. - If students do not pass the test, they must take
PE in their 10th grade year. Students will be
retested at the end 10th grade. - If they do not pass the test, they must continue
to take PE for the following year or students can
opt out of the test at the age of 16.
16Independent PE
- Starting in the 10th grade you may earn up to 10
credits for participating in an athletic
activity. - The sport must be an on campus sport.
- Cannot be used for Marching Band, Cheerleading,
or Winter Guard. - Students must have passed the Physical Fitness
testing in the 9th grade. - You cant be enrolled in PE, Study Hall or
Teacher Aide. - You must maintain a 2.0 GPA during the season to

26MATH PLACEMENT
- You will not put down a math class. Class
placement will be determined by your current math
teacher. - If you have a grade of C or below in Algebra 1,
the CHS math department strongly recommends
students repeat the class. - Students who received a grade of C or below in
Algebra I and/or Transition tend to see their
grades drop into the D and F range by the time
they reach Algebra 2. - 92 of Algebra 2 students with grades D or below
at first semester this year had one or more
grades C or below in previous math courses.
27WORLD LANGUAGE PLACEMENT
- Cal High will be obtaining teacher
recommendations for students currently enrolled
in Spanish 1 or French 1 and planning to go to
the next level. However, you should get the
teacher to sign on the back page as well. - It is highly recommended that you repeat the
course if you receive a grade or C or below in
Spanish 1 or French 1.

415 pm. - Out of district students test at CHS Wed., April

a letter by the end of the school year.
31AUDITION/INTERVIEW CLASSES
- The following classes require an audition or
interview in order to be eligible for the class - Leadership (will be chosen in the fall)
- All Vocal Music Classes (except Mixed Chorus)
- All Music/Band classes (except Concert Band)
- Representatives from Music and Choir will come to
your school to talk about their programs. - Make sure you put these courses as alternates in
case you dont meet the requirements.

- See your counselor for any academic or personal

- Get tutoring from NHS (National Honor Society) in
the Career Center. - Personal tutor lists are available in the

- Do homework the night it is assigned. That way,
you have one extra day to ask for help. - Use the Tutorial period productively.
- Ask questions during or after class if you need
clarification. - Use your Cal High agenda to write down
assignments. - Keep your notebook organized.
- Ask for help from your counselor when needed.
- Use School Loop.
- Be to class on time.
- Use tutoring services during lunch.
