Thank you for participating in K-9 Karnival 2009!
Last year was a success so we now have an annual
tradition in Des Moines! This packet of
information includes everything you should need
to know to prepare for the show. Good Luck with

Deadline your payment in-full prior to
May 1st. Mail your check to 4143 109th St,
Urbandale, Iowa 50322. If you prefer to pay by
credit card, there is a payment form attached
with a secure fax line number. Contest All
vendors must provide at least one prize valued at
50 Prizes (retail) for
contest winners. You may bring your prize to the
event, however, please contact Renee Schneider
prior to the event and let her know what you
plan on providing so she can assign your prize to
a specific contest.

Q A
Here are some questions you might have in regards
to K-9 Karnival 2009. Q What time does the show
run on Saturday, May 9th?  A The show opens to
the public at 9am and runs through 4pm. However,
the doors will open at 730am for vendors to do a
final set up. Booths need to be show ready
before 830a. Q Can we set up our booth the day
before? A Yes, you can set up beginning at noon
on Friday, May 8th. Vendors will have from noon
7pm to set up. There will be one hour for you to
do final set up before the show opens to the
public on Saturday.    Q Can we buy tickets in
advance and at the gate?A Both! Advance tickets
will be available at Citadel Broadcasting in
Urbandale. Tickets prices are 5 for 12 and 3
for 3-12. Under 3 is free.  Q What comes with
my booth?A All 10x10 booths are equipped with a
topped and skirted 8 table (2 tables for 10x20
booth), 2 chairs and a wastebasket. You can bring
additional tables and chairs if you would like.
Please decorate your additional tables to fit
your booth. Electricity and internet access are
additional charges. Please bring your own
extension cords. Q What if it is Raining?  A
This is an indoor event! Q Can I bring a
camera?A  Yes, you may bring a camera. If you
capture a great photo please make sure to share
it with us! It may end up on the website! Q Is
there a dedicated website for this event? A Yes.

Q How much is Parking?A It is FREE to park in
the 7 Flags Events Center parking lot. There is
not reserved vendor parking, but there is ample
space for vendors and spectators. Q Will
handicap parking be available?A Yes, a limited
amount of handicap parking will be available to
people with the proper credentials.  Q Can I
go back to my car if I forgot something?A Yes.
You may re-enter the show if you get your hand
stamped at the door prior to leaving. Q Will
there be a break area for vendors?A Yes, there
will be a break area for participating vendors.
Some snacks will be provided, however you are
welcome to visit the concession stand throughout
the day. If you need a break, please make sure
someone is available at your booth to talk with
your potential customers throughout the day! Q
Can we bring our dogs?A  Of course! As long as
your dog is spayed or neutered, leashed and
well-behaved, they are welcome to come with you
to K-9 Karnival! You may want to bring a crate or
kennel for their nap time! Q When can we tear
down our booth? A Please do not tear down before
5pm on Saturday. You can quietly organize your
materials and supplies before 4pm, but you must
remain open until the close of the show. Q
Will spectators buy merchandise from my booth? A
Spectators are encouraged to purchase merchandise
at the show. It is up to you to decide what
payment options you will accept. You may keep all
revenue you take in during the show. Please note
that electricity is a 35 additional charge and
will not be available unless you have made prior
arrangements. Wireless internet is available,
however telephone lines are not. If you would
like electricity and have not made prior
arrangements, please contact Renee Schneider at
515-331-9200 to add it to your booth.

  • Q Can I sell my puppies at the show?
  • A Selling of dogs and puppies is strictly
    prohibited at K-9 Karnival. You are welcome to
    bring dogs and puppies available for adoption for
    display purposes only. Customers should be
    encouraged to adopt your puppies from your
    location after the event.
  • Q How will the front door greeter know that I am
    a vendor?
  • A Your vendor identification is included in this
    packet. There are 2 badges included with each
    booth. If you need more, you can pick them up at
    the vendor registration Friday during set-up or
    Saturday morning prior to the show start. They
    will be available at the K-9 Karnival
    Headquarters booth just inside of the show doors.
    If you have purchased a sponsorship that offered
    complimentary tickets, they should have been
    included in this packet along with 2 vendor
    badges. If you were to have received comp tickets
    and they were not included in this packet, please
    contact Renee Schneider at 515-331-9200.
  • Q What if an animal has an accident in front of
    my booth?
  • A Event staff will easily be identified because
    they will be wearing official K-9 Karnival
    T-shirts. Please notify a staff member who will
    promptly alert the clean up crew.
  • Q Who do you expect to come to the event?
  • A We anticipate spectator demographics to be
    similar to last year with increased attendance
    numbers
  • 2,500 3,000 estimated attendance for this
    annual show
  • 67 spectators will bring their dogs to the show
  • 63 Female
  • 37 Male
  • Under 18 (13), 19-24 (12), 25-34 (27), 35-44
    (23), 45-54 (15), 55 (10)
  • Q How are you advertising this event?
  • A All 5 Citadel Broadcasting stations will begin
    to promote K-9 Karnival on or before April 1,
    2009. There will be a minimum of 20 promotional
    mentions per day on all 5 stations. Doing the
    math, that is a minimum of 2,800 promotions
    inviting listeners to come play at the event. In
    addition to radio broadcasting, there will be
    extensive website exposure on all 5 station
    websites including www.k-9karnivaliowa.com
    website. E-mail blasts and text messaging will
    also be included in the media mix along with
    print advertising. Animal Planet, ABC Family, TNT
    and Nickelodeon will have commercials on their
    stations as well.
