How to Initiate A Technical Paper

• TOPIC
• Be open to opportunities for writing a paper
• Choose an issue/topic
• You are EXCITED about
• Something that you are solving on a project
• A better way of doing something
• RESOURCES
• Find out if your company has an incentive
  program for writing papers
• Find out if your company has employees who have
  written papers (mentors)
• Discuss with your supervisor, management, and
  clients
• Get help from others, enlist co-authors

How to Initiate A Technical Paper

• JUST DO IT
• Outline the topic of interest create a Table of
  Contents
• Develop an abstract
• Research pictures, diagrams, charts, operating
  data, test results and pertinent material for
  the Paper
• Develop an introduction, the main body, the
  conclusion, and then complete the Paper with a
  Reference List if appropriate
• Main body does not have to be long, just to the
  point

Advisory Committee

• Prepare an Abstract for the paper September
• Paper Selection by Advisory Committee September
  
• Each Paper selected will be sponsored by a
  designated member of Advisory Committee
• Submit completed Draft Paper to Sponsor for
  review and comments early November
• Upload final version of the Paper to the LRGCC
  Website early January
