This ringneck snakes nest contained two eggs.
When the first egg started to hatch the
photographer was able to follow its progress over
the next 15 hours until the young snake was able
to get out of its shell.

As the shell slowly splits, the young snake has
an unexpected visitor.

The young snake seemed to be wrapped around
itself and it took some time before it started to
unwrap.

It was working its way out of the shell and then
it got scared and retracted back into its shell.

When this young snake decided to leave, it was
gone before the photographer could take another
picture. It buried itself under the mulch and
debris on the ground. It will lead a timid
nocturnal existence, preferring a habitat where
it can easily burry itself in lose soil, leaf
litter or under other thing such as stones or
logs.

hatching.
