Steele School 5th graders in C-5 researched the
life of Ludwig van Beethoven in the LC with Mrs.
Miller. In the computer lab they were introduced
to Microsoft PowerPoint, and learned more about
this famous composer as they integrated
technology into their music curriculum.

was born during the classical period. Beethoven
was born on December 17,1770. Beethoven played in
public when he was 8 years old. Beethovens first
teacher was his father. Beethoven began to study
the piano when Beethoven was 4 years old.
Beethoven started to compose music when he was 11
years old.

In 1787 the Elector granted the 17 year-old a
trip to Vienna to finish his studies with
Mozart. But this project failed because
Beethoven was called back to Bonn ,Germany after
a fourteen-day stay in Vienna A short time after
his return his mother died ?

12Beethoven Teen Years
Beethoven was born in 1770 and lived until 1827.
He began studying piano when he was just four
years old. He played in public when he was just
eight years old and by the time he was eleven he
had written and published three piano
sonatas. Young Ludwig gave his first public
performance when he was just eight years old . He
was becoming a fine pianist and would often
improve or make up the music as he played it. As
a teenager Beethoven traveled to Vienna Austria
and got to play for the great Mozart. Mozart was
a very impressed with the young teens talent.
He told people to keep an eye on this young man.

Around 1801, Beethoven began to lose his hearing.
Beethovens career as a virtuoso pianist was
brought to a end when he began to experience his
first symtoims of deafness.

Beethoven has nine symphonys and did you know
that Beethovens third symphony is called Eroica.

Symphony 9 was the last symphony Beethoven did.
The Ninth Symphonys name was Ode to Joy. The
original word for Joy in German changed to the
word freedom. This symphony was performed at a
special concert in Germany in 1789. During
Beethovens lifetime the symphony was a very
popular art form. Beethoven was always looking
for ways to make his music more powerful.

Beethoven died in 1827 from lead poisoning. They
dont know the age he died they think he died
when he was 56 or 57 . Know one knows if he died
before his birthday or after his birthday. They
think he got lead poisoning from diet and
medication.

Beethoven died in 1827, when he was 57. He died
from lead poisoning and it ruined his health.
Before he passed away he wrote his last symphony.
It was number 9. When they scanned his skull,
they found large amounts of lead. Beethovens
music must have gotten to a lot of people because
many people attended his funeral. For Beethovens
lead to disappear, it would have taken 22 years.

The dying man suddenly raised his head and
stretched out his right arm majestically, like
winging orders to an army. This was but for an
instant the arm fell down and he fell back.
Beethoven was DEAD!! Lets start this all over by
how he died. He had an overdose of a lead-based
cure. He had a shrunken liver and he had lead
poisoning. The funeral took place on March 26th,
1827. Beethoven was buried in Wahringer
cemetery, west of Vienna. In 1863, Beethovens
body was exhumed, studied ,and reburied.

cartoons . Trans Siberian orchestras synthesized
Beethovens symphonies . Symphony 9 was used
when the Berlin Wall was falling.
