Background

• Most famous arms race took place after World War
  1
• United States and Russia raced for nuclear
  weapons
• Germany and Britain also had their own arms race
• They raced to control the seas
• The Arms Race has been around for generations and
  in these modern times and new arms race has
  emerged. From swords to rocket propelled
  missiles, mankind has constantly pressed for
  stronger, smarter, and more effective weapons.
  This urge to be the best and most powerful
  country has been around for years but with new
  technologies and ideas a New Arms Race has
  evolved.

Reasons for the Problem

• People will also want to be the best out of
  everyone which can result in an arms race.
• Powerful countries want to keep their power so
  they build up their military to ensure that.
• The less powerful countries grow jealous and
  therefore they build up their military power.
• Some countries also feel threatened by powerful
  neighbooring countries so they feel as though
  they have to build up their arms to be safe.

Current Stats

• Currently there are 8 countries in the nuclear
  club US, China, Russia, France, India, Pakistan,
  Israel, and North Korea.
• Some people believed that a nuclear war is on the
  edge of breaking out, even greater than it was
  during the Cold War.
• The current arms race is involved with Iraq.
  Iraq has been trying to develop biological
  weapons when the world has told them to stop
  producing these weapons.

Analysis

• I think that the world needs to watch who is
  developing nuclear and biological weapons more
  closely. If someone decided that they want to
  make a missile like this they shouldnt be able
  to. If weapons like these got into the hands of
  the wrong people then the entire world could go
  into chaos. The only people who should have
  these types of weapons are the countries that
  have agreed to the nuclear proliferation act.

Reasonable Solution

• Sadly, there is no perfect solution to this
  problem because there will be leaders who want to
  get these weapons.
• In my opinion the only way to solve this problem
  is to start spreading democracy like we have in
  Iraq. This will help insure that there wont be
  as many communist leaders such as Sudam Hussein
  trying to get nuclear and biological weapons.

Prediction

• There will always be arms races going on in the
  world and people will not always be able to stop
  them from going to war.
• The next war will likely result in World War III.
  This is because many of the countries in the
  world today have nuclear weapons and if they are
  attacked wont hesitate to use them.
• All it would take to start up World War III is
  a ruler like Suddam Hussein getting a hold of
  nuclear weapons.
