Archipelago

• Is a group of islands. The Philippines and the
  islands of Indonesia are part of the Malay
  Archipelago

Oceania

• These are the islands in the pacific(Philippines,
  Indonesia are not part of Oceania). New Zealand
  and Australia are sometimes seen as part of
  Oceania.

Pacific islands fall into two categories

• One is the high islands and the second is the the
  low islands

High Islands

• Are created by volcanoes.

• Are made of coral reefs.

Great Barrier Reef

• Along Australias northeast coast. It is a 1250
  mile long chain of reefs and islands. There are
  400 species of coral found there.

• It is the coldest and driest continent. It
  receives so little precipitation that is often
  known as a polar desert.

Voyaging Canoe

• Pacific islanders built this with double hulls.
  This makes the canoe stable and enables it to
  carry lots weight.

Outrigger canoe

• This is suitable in shallow water or lagoons.
  This canoe has a frame with an attached float.
  This frame extends from one side. The float
  helps balance the canoe.

Rabbits

• Australias agricultural and sheep herding
  endeavors have suffered greatly by over
  populations of rabbits.
