Title: MPLSTP Survivability Framework

1
MPLS-TP Survivability Framework
  • Nurit Sprecher / Nokia Siemens Networks
  • Adrian Farrel / Old Dog Consulting
  • draft-ietf-mpls-tp-survive-fwk-03.txt
  • IETF76, Hiroshima

2
Scope and Objectives
  • Provide a framework for MPLS-TP-based
    survivability, introducing the functional
    architecture
  • The general description of the functional
architecture is applicable for both LSPs and PWs.
  • Detailed consideration for the protection of PWs
in MPLS-TP networks will be covered in a separate
document. We expect that this draft will probably
be worked on within the PWE3 working group.
  • Highlight areas where new work is required.
  • Use the recovery terminology defined in RFC4427
as normative. Note that RFC 4427 draws on
    G.808.1.
  • Refer to the requirements specified in RFC 5654.
  • Use similar principles of the recovery schemes as
those defined and analyzed in RFC 4427 and RFC
    4428.
