The purpose of the resume

• The purpose of a resume is not to get a job, but
  to get an interview with an employer
• The typical employer only looks at a resume for
  30 to 40 seconds

Structure of an American resume

• There is not one form you can buy and fill out
  the necessary information like in Korea and other
  countries.
• You need to be creative in layout. You do not
  want your resume to look like everyone elses

Content Language

• Do not have to have a full sentence
• Never want to use pronouns (I, my, mine). It is
  implied
• Do not abbreviate, unless it is industry standard
• Always start with a strong action word

  employment
