- A small university which has experienced rapid
growth (2002-2007) - Enrolment up 39 from 6,306 to 8,792
- Full-time faculty complement up 25 from 320 to
401 - Operating budget (70 million in 2003-04 103.4
million in 2007-08) - Research activity up 300 (9.5 million in
2003-04 38 million in 2006-07) - Several new masters and PhD programs and a new
medical school - Additional space up over 25
- Large campus (760 acres of which 49 are
developed) - Communications (bilingual university,
tricultural in nature) - Other autonomous organizations on campus

- Universities
- Generally provide a safe environment for
students, faculty, staff and visitors. - Present many of the same security risks and
challenges of running a small city. - Are a microcosm of society.
- Unfortunately are not immune to acts of
aggression, violence, hatred, accidents, theft,
