  • Grade 4 7 parents and students surveyed
  • All teachers invited to complete survey
  • Results compared to previous year respondents
  • Questions refer to feelings, opinions etc.

Safe and Caring
  • Questions around feeling safe, being treated
    fairly, teachers caring
  • Parents very satisfied that teachers really care
    and students are treated fairly
  • Students concerned with how others treat them

Program of Studies
  • Questions around opportunity to receive broad
    program of studies
  • Parents satisfied with variety of courses, PE and
    learning another language
  • Students satisfied with opportunities to learn
    with computers, variety of courses and health

Education Quality
  • Questions around satisfaction with quality of
    basic education
  • Parents feel students are learning what they need
    to know, and the work is interesting
  • Very high quality of education from both
    students and parents perspective

Work Preparation
  • Overall increase this year
  • Questions around satisfaction that attitudes and
    behaviours are taught that make students
    successful at work once finished school
  • Grade 7 Parents satisfaction increased
    significantly , Grade 4 parents increased
    satisfaction as well

Citizenship
  • Questions around modeling characteristics of
    active citizenship
  • Parent satisfaction increased
  • Students dont feel others follow the rules, help
    or respect each other
  • Increase in students feeling encouraged to help
    in the community

Parental Involvement

    school and childs education levels
  • Parents not feeling involved in decisions at the
    school level
  • Discrepancy between teacher and parent
    perceptions

School Improvement
  • Questions around school and jurisdiction
    improving or staying the same over the past three
    years.
  • 80 of Grade 4 7 students are proud of their
    school ( increase over previous year)
  • Overall, parents feel quality of education has
    been maintained or improved

Implications
  • Continue to provide quality educational
    opportunities to our students
  • Provide more opportunities for students to be
    actively involved in community based activities
    and programs that support citizenship skills (
    house, buddy activities etc)
  • Communicate more effectively with parents,
    highlighting existing opportunities to be
    involved
  • Provide more opportunities to solicit parental
    input ( School Council meetings, Parent nights)
