  • A Slumber Did My Spirit Seal, 1799

4
  • The winter of 1798-99 Wordsworth spent with his
sister and friend Coleridge in a cabin in
Germany. There, with the encouragement of
Coleridge, he wrote several of his works

5
Family Secrets
  • In 1802 Wordsworth married his childhood friend
Mary Hutchinson. Wordsworths sister did not
attend the ceremony instead she was found
crying on her bed. Some writers have suggested
that Wordsworth had an incestuous relationship
with his sister. There may be proof of his
feelings in the Lucy poems where Wordsworth
attempts to kill his improper feelings for his
    sister.

6
  • Between 1825 to1835 many of his old friends,
Beaumont, Scott, Coleridge, Charles lams, and
    Robert Jones all died.

7
  • Extempore Effusion on the Death of James Hogg
was considered his last great poem. He wrote
this after reading in the news paper of his
    friend James Hoggs death.

8
  • By the time Wordsworth died on April 13, 1850,
he was widely considered as the best poet in the
    world.
