Problem Description

• Extensive video resources unused in classroom
  instruction
• CSS has over 14,000 titles
• 390 played last year, 350 gt 3 times
• Psychology Department has many titles on VHS or
  DVD that they dont use in class because of
  logistics
• Undoubtedly others

Proposed solution

• Digitized content would be stored on a central
  server and made available over high-speed campus
  network
• Can store entire original, or snippets
• Available from web browser to all
• Searchable catalog
• Title, keywords, etc.

System Support Model

• Server hardware maintained by ACNS
• Application software maintained by CSS
• Establish self-service scheme to the extent
  possible
• Authorized personnel may submit digital content
  for storage and access
• Develop encoding tools procedures
• Student employees to encode, catalog

End-User Support Model

• Content should be easy to access, little support
  required
• CTSS help desk can serve as first line of support
• ACNS/CSS staff will provide secondary support

Benefit

• Great potential for instructional support
• Outside perspective, influences
• Additional resources would be available to
  students outside of class
• Available to all students, regardless of college
  or major
• Useful for other CSU content too
• Split funded with ACNS/CSS

• UTFAB request 28,000

• Purchase hardware and begin installation summer
  2007
• Support users and hardware through FY 2010
• Recurring costs, approved annually
• 8K software maintenance
• 6K student
