Title: Steps in the process

1
Steps in the process
  • Step 1 Studied dominant and recessive traits.
  • Step 2We surveyed everybody in class and
recorded the data. The 7 traits surveyed in this
project Ear lobe, white forelock, thumbs,
pinkys, color blindness, mid-digit hair, and
    dimples.
  • Step 3Analyzed the project data to find the
percent of people showing the dominant and
    recessive phenotypes for each trait.
  • Step 4Went to excel and made a graph of the
    traits.

2
Our Class Survey
In our class, 19 students were surveyed about
traits. The traits that were surveyed were
earlobes, white forelock, dimples, thumbs,
pinkies, mid-digit hair, and red/green color
blindness. For earlobes free(d)14/19

DIMPLE SURVEY
4
INFORMATION
  • With dimples is the dominant trait.
  • Without dimples is the recessive trait.
  • The recessive trait was the most common.

5
Ear Lobes
The recessive trait, the attached earlobes, was
more prevalent in this survey. However, in our
class 14/19 were dominant, having detached
earlobes. In the whole study recessive traits
were more common..
6
Color Blindness

FAST FACT
PINKIES
Pinky genetic graph
The recessive, straight pinkies, trait was the
prevalent in this case, though the dominant
trait, bent, was still showing.

8
Mid-digit hair
  • Students with out mid-digit hair represented the
recessive trait. This trait was more common in
this study than the dominant trait, people with
    mid-digit hair.

9
The presence of a white forelock is dominant.
The recessive trait, no white forelock wa the
most common in this study.
10
Curved Straight
Thumbs
We have the hitch hiker trait! (curved)
There are 47 Curved thumbs which is
recessive and 54 straight which is dominant.

11
Conclusion
The recessive traits appeared most often overall
in this study.
12
Conclusions
  • When Comparing our class to the overall survey of
people studied, the recessive traits were still
prevalent, but we had 4 recessive traits and 3
dominant traits. The overall project study
showed 5 recessive and 2 dominant traits. In
conclusion, the Recessive traits were prevalent.

Ideas for the future
  • In the future, wed like to see the survey
include cleft chin and widows peak.

Thanks for allowing us to do this project. We
learned a lot doing this project and studying
this genetic unit.
