How This Works
  • For the next two weeks you will be doing online
    research on Rocks Minerals - which sure beats
    just reading about them in your textbook!
  • Each day you will come to this computer lab, get
    your handout from Mrs. Pick or Mr. Grimes, log in
    to a computer, start this PowerPoint, and get
    going!!
  • Each day you will be going to different websites
    to learn new things about minerals and rocks,
    writing down this new info on your worksheets and
    that is all there is to it!

For the first day I want you to look at the
tabs Introduction Task
Evaluation Then go to the tab Process and
Click on Day 1 You are all set to
begin your WebQuest! Good Luck and if you have
any questions, please ask.

Introduction
  • For the next 2 weeks you will be researching
    several websites
  • and learning about rocks/minerals.
  • How each day will go
  • 1. Come to room 60 and get onto a computer.
  • 2. Mrs. Pick or mr. grimes will hand you a
    worksheet for that day to work on and complete.
  • 3. Log on to a computer.
  • 4. Bring up this powerpoint each day (found on
    the desktop).
  • 5. Go to slide 6 (process).
  • 6. Click on which day you are on.
  • 7. Begin webquest research.

Task
  • Your task over the next two weeks is to learn as
    much as possible about minerals and rocks (by
    answering the questions given to you).
  • Minerals and rocks are all around us and play an
    important role in our lives, it is your job to
    learn about both minerals and rocks sufficiently
    enough to become an expert with one kind of
    mineral or rock.

Each day you will come to this page in the
powerpoint and click on whatever day you are on.
It will take you to a website where you will
answer the questions on your worksheet.

Evaluation
  • By the time you finish this webquest (which will
    take a couple weeks) you will be expected to be
    an expert about one mineral or one type of rock.
  • Mrs. Pick or Mr. Grimes will assign to you which
    mineral or rock you are responsible for knowing.
  • No pencil/paper test will be given, but you will
    be asked to put together a poster showing all
    that you know about your pet mineral or pet
    rock. See Rubric for grading Information.
