3Artist Statement
- I have always loved to draw in some fashion.
The work I do is really for the sake of doing
something, expressing myself without thought. I
want to make something timeless. Sometimes I do
the work that I do just to see what I can make. - My ideas have very little to do with planning.
When I brainstorm I start out sketching a line,
circle, a random shape. Then, I look at my
sketch and decide what I think it could become.
Once I have my idea I just run with it until it
forms into a picture. My techniques and
materials depend on my idea but I tend to be
partial to pastels. - My work right now is in limbo. I have not
done any serious artwork in a while, only the
occasional sketch on a scrape piece of paper.
Since I have not done any serious work in a while
I am not up to speed. My work has become more
cartoonish over time. I intend to work more with
realism in the future. I cannot wait to see how
that turns out.
4This is my self portrait from last year. I had a
lot of fun trying to come up with a way to
express my Mondays in color. This is definitely
one of my favorite pieces. And no matter what I
did in the beginning it didnt look like me, in
the end it turned out looking decent. It took
forever!!!!!
5This is my shoe advertisement from 10th grade (ah
the memories). I drew my sneakers in an attempt
to put the most detail possible into this
drawing. It was really hard to come up with the
slogan for this one.
6Okay, so this is my penguin from Madagascar with
his bottle of champagne. This was by far one of
the pieces that I had the most fun with. Who
knew that monoprints could be so entertaining.
Messing with the colors on the bottle was the
hard part in this.
7My childrens book was a cool little project.
Since I decided that I wouldnt gesso the pages
but glue paper instead, I had a little difficulty
in making the pages one clean edge. The last
page was the page that made my day. Thats the
page where I cited my other works. ).
