2The Hauraki Digital Experience.. Our interest
is driven by our passion to educate our children
- We have accumulated information and data that
is inaccessible to our children. - Our children need to hear the stories of
kaumatua and kuia to know and understand their
cultural heritage. - Our schools need access to iwi/hapu knowledge
to share in the richness of our tikanga.

10Conclusion
- The aim is to allow iwi-hapu to organise,
preserve and access data with the emphasis on
access. - The information is there mai ra ano.
- It provides a teaching/learning resource that can
be accessed worldwide. - This new era of information technology brings
Maori into the digital age. - There is more to be done to ensure that the
system moves beyond the trial stages to a usable,
reliable programme that is user friendly. - We want to negotiate with interested parties to
further the work that we are doing in this area.
- We acknowledge the support that we have received
from the National Turnbull Library and the Maori
Purposes Fund Board.
