AS-Interface Safe - Headlines
  • Integration of all binary safety-related
    components in AS-Interface, such as
  • Emergency stop
  • Protective door switch
  • Safety light barriers/grids
  • Contactor controls, etc.
  • Combined operation of standard and safety-related
components via the yellow AS-i cable
  • Fail-safe PLC or special master not necessary due
    to safety monitor
  • It is possible to form groups of safe signals
    within a network
  • Diagnostics via standard master/standard PLC

3
Features of the system
  • Can be used up to control category 4 according to
    EN 954 -1
  • Response time max. 35 ms
  • Approved by BIA1 and TÃœV2
  • Full compatibility with all other AS components
    according to EN 50 295
  • Use of the standard AS-Interface protocol
  • Maximum extension of the system with 31 safe
    slaves
  • Stop category 0 or 1 can be set
  • Compatable with AS-Interface V2.1

Safety Monitor
  • Monitor for monitoring safe slaves
  • 1 or 2 two-channel enable circuit for safe
    switching off
  • Several safety monitors in one AS-Interface
    system are possible
  • Diagnostics via LEDs, configuration software and
    AS-Interface/controls
  • Parameters can be set for the following
    functions
  • Contactor control
  • Stop category 0 and 1
  • Restart inhibit
  • Local acknowledgement
  • Enabling switch

Diagnostics via AS-i
With no address of the Safety-Monitor 0000
means Safety device OFFCode means Safety
device ON Disadvantages- no Monitor failures are
detected - not all Device failures
are detected - no defined reason
given for activation With an ASI address of the
Safety-Monitor The status of the monitor and all
relevant devices can be transfered into the PLC.
A function block for the S7 is available. Advantag

What happens if ...
  • ... a slave is defective
  • You can take an identical substitute slave. The
safety monitor accepts this as a substitute and
internally adjusts to the new code table. The
    safety protocol must be updated.
  • ... the safety monitor is defective
  • The configuration data of the system is stored in
the monitor and if necessary can be directly
transmitted to the new monitor. In addition a
safety check must be carried out, i.e. all safe
components must be actuated and their functioning
    checked by a competent person.

13
Can you ...
  • ... add a safe slave to an existing network?
  • Yes! The monitor accepts additional safe slaves.
The safety protocol must then be updated.
  • ... remove safe slaves from an existing network?
  • No! To prevent manipulation this is not possible.
If a safe slave is removed, the safety monitor
switches off and will not switch on again until a
new configuration is down loaded into the monitor
    via a PC.
  • ... run AS-Interface Safe under Version 2.1?
  • All components of Safety at Work can be run under
    the extended AS-Interface specification Version
2.1. Safe slaves are, however, always single
slaves, as they need a complete AS-Interface
address. A mixed configuration is possible but
you must take into acccount that A and B
addresses eliminate the full address from your
    configuration table.

14
AS-Interface Safe can be configured quickly and
easily via Drag Drop
  • Assignment of the slaves to the output switching
    elements
  • Operating modes can be set
  • Mode 1 Stop - Category 0 0
  • Mode 2 Stop - Category 0 1
  • Mode 3 Stop - Category 0
    two-hand operation
  • Mode 4 Stop - Category 0 door
    latching
  • Downloading of the processed data withpassword
    protection
  • Protection against manipulation of the
    configuration data
  • Protocol of the configuration
  • In the case of error, monitoring of the system
