Background

• 20,160 square miles of mountains, desert, valley
• Board of Supervisors, with five districts
• SWMD operates 6 active landfills, manages 33
  closed/inactive landfills, 8 transfer stations
  and 4 LVTOs.
• Operating budget for landfill projects eclipses
  70 million a year

• SWMD manages franchised hauler agreements,
  environmental public education programs,
  environmental grants, commercial recycling
  programs and all other special projects.
• The new CDSDP program costs the over 1 million to
  operate
• County Household Hazardous Waste manages several
  contracts for County of San Bernardino cities to
  manage their HHW and operates 14 collection
  facilities and 7 ABOPs.
• Total spent for all facilities last year, 3.3
  million
