Title: The Sun
1The Sun
Things to consider to help you to write a poem
about the sun.
So we could say
Its there all day, then it goes away.
What do we know about the sun?
Its in the skyway up high.
Where is it?
It gives us light and heat.
What does it do?
What does it remind you of?
A ball, an orange, a sphere.

2The Sun
Stuck for ideas for rhymes?
fun,
bun.
run,
Sounds like
It looks
round,
like a pound.
Makes me feelhot, quite a lot.

3The Sun
Some more ideas
Itglistens, it gleams, it beams, it answers our
dreams.
Itshimmers, it shines, the light travels in
lines.

4The Sun
Describe it
Its like a shining sphere
Its like a gleaming globe
Its like a glistening globule
Its like a bright golden bauble

5The Sun
Tell me what it does
It smiles down on us as it wraps its warmth
around us.
It pushes back the night and gives us light.
It bursts into life so very bright.

6The Sun
Stuck for ideas, try these
Its like a shining shimmering sphere, up high in
the sky.
Its like a gleaming, glowing golden globe.
It slides down to the horizon, at the end of the
day, until its time for it to go away.

7The Sun
Its like a shining shimmering sphere, floating
up high in the sky.
First a few rays, cutting through the haze, then
it bursts into view to warm me and you.
It slides towards the horizon as it moves on its
way through the day.
Slowly blinking, then sinking, it fades, melts
away.
Dont worry or fret, its not over yet.
It returns not long after the moon and thats
fairly soon.

8Think of your theme
The sea
What can you see, hear, touch, smell?
Stormy, angry, crashing waves, sea serpents,
salty smell, cold, out crops of rocks, danger.
Or
Gentle lapping waves, mermaids, dolphins playing
games, fresh summer breeze, warm, peaceful, calm.

9Think of your theme
Forest..
What can you see, hear, touch, smell?
Green, dark, damp, cold, scary, strange noises,
mythical creatures.
Or
Shafts of light peeking through the trees,
warmth, tame friendly creatures, paths of sweet
smelling petals leading to
