1AMCVIS
Advanced, Multi-Crew, Vehicle Intercom System
Physical Design, Operational Capabilities,
Experience, and Contract Vehicles
In our decade of experience with the CAT AMCVIS
it has proven to be reliable, rugged, and built
to perform in the harshest of battlefield
conditions. The AMCVIS is flexible to install,
easy to maintain, and provides an intuitive user
interface. - US Army, Ft Bragg

2AMCVIS Overview
- AMCVIS is a US military-proven vehicle
communications system designed to provide crews
of 3 to 10 soldiers with intercom, and the
ability to simultaneously monitor two radios and
selectively transmit on a radio. - AMCVIS is designed to be simple to install,
operate and maintain in the field. Only the
small controller needs to be hard-mounted in a
vehicle, insuring that the AMCVIS can be rapidly
setup and removed. AMCVIS minimizes the
extraneous components to create a fully
functioning unit . - AMCVIS is fully compatible with most current
military headsets used in-theatre, equipped with
U-174/U plugs, dynamic microphones and headset
speaker including the TASC and Gentex headsets.

IMU Intercom Master Unit
- The IMU is the AMCVIS system controller. It
contains the audio, logic, power, radio
interfaces/select, and intercom station interface
circuitry.
- The circuitry is mounted in a heavy gauge
aluminum housing with welded seams and gasketed
connectors. - Dimensions 10.47 x 6.25 x 1.75 (pictured
unit is 3.5) - Weight 3.0 lbs

ICU Intercom Control Unit
- The unique ICU, developed for SOTF, gives the
individual soldier (a) intercom push-to-talk, (b)
radio push-to transmit, and (c) personal volume
control, each with a machined guard and different
tactile feel in a small assembly that fits
comfortably in a gloved hand. A spring-loaded
headset jack cover and a rubber-toothed clothing
clip enhanced the reliability and ease of use for
the soldier. - The ICU cable lengths from 10 to 50 can be
supplied.

ICU Intercom Control Unit
- A soldier talks through the intercom by pushing
the intercom P-T-T button. - A soldier talk through the radio by using the
radio P-T-T button and is heard by the other
crewmen without also having to key the Intercom
P-T-T button. - The intercom button is raised slightly above the
edge of the guard. The radio P-T-T button is set
just below the edge of its guard. - Volume control (not shown) permits individual
soldier adjustment of incoming audio level.

Power Supply Requirements/Cable
- Power requirement for the intercom system is 11
to 31 volts DC from an external power source.
The power input is protected by a circuit breaker
which can be quickly reset in the field without
tools. - Current drain is
- less than 0.5A

Radio Interface Cable
- The radio cables are available to connect to a
wide range of radio including HT-1000,
XTS-3000/5000, ICOM F43G, MBITR, SINCGARS,
PRC-117, XTVA, PRC-150. No radio modifications
are required. If equipped with two radio
connection option, both radios are available for
talk-listen by crew members.
10AMCVIS Options
- Remote Radio Selector Switch (RRSS)
- This unit permits the radio select to be located
- away from the IMU. Supplied with a mounting
- bracket and protective switch guard.
- Single Intercom Remote Station (SIRS)
- Permits all ICU in a vehicle to be universal
- with the same cable length but where distance
- to crew positions from IMU differ.
- Extra length is provided in SIRS
- interconnect cable. Mounting bracket
- supplied.
