Food Quality Protection Act of 1996
  • Draft Year July 17, 2002
  • Amendment Year 1996
  • National United States Federal Law
  • The FQPA of 1996 amended the Federal Insecticide,
Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) and the
Federal Food Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA).
These amendments changed the way EPA regulates
pesticides. The requirements included a new
    safety standard-reasonable certainty of no
harm-that must be applied to all pesticides used
    on foods.
  • Environmental Issues affected are that all
pesticides used on food in the United States meet
    FQPA's more stringent safety standard
  • The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is
responsible for regulating and enforcing the Food
    Quality Protection Act.
