5The fields of ICA 1-2
- Science (and technology) ICA will develop the
scientific and technological basis of Cartography
and GI-Science - Education ICA will develop and promote, through
education at all levels, the truths of what we
know and will discover about our subject

- Professional Practice ICA will provide support
for two groups of professionals - those who describe themselves as professionally
active as their main occupation - in a specific
area of Cartography or GI-Science. - those who use systems or procedures from
Cartography or GI-Science as part of their
professional activity, e.g. environmental
managers, utility managers, planners. - Society (social and organisational)ICA will seek
to promote applications of Cartography and
GI-Science in any area, which can be beneficial
