15Age Phases for placement for those registering on
PGCE Primary full-time and flexible routes from
September 2007 onwards The Training and
Development Agency (TDA) for teachers has
introduced a change to the requirement for
trainees placement experience. Trainees now
should undertake placements in two consecutive
phases taken from the list below Foundation
Stage ages 3-5 Key Stage 1 ages 5-7 Key Stage
2 ages 7-9 Key Stage 2 ages 9-11 This means
that it is now possible to carry out placements
in Key Stage 2 only.
16UH Placement Pathways Lower pathway Foundation
Stage and Key Stage 1 placements Middle
Pathway Key Stage 1 and 7-9 Key Stage 2
placements Upper pathway both 7-9 and 9-11 Key
