instructional days for the school year.
  • Interns completing one semester only must
complete at least 70 instructional days.
  • The district coordinator will need to submit COEs
electronically or in hard copy for fall interns
who are unable to complete at least 70
instructional days. Those interns can begin KTIP
    in January.

6
Instructional Days (contd)
  • Count from the first instructional day after the
interns hire date to the end of the semester or
school year in order to complete the RTIY.
  • Instructional days may include PD days.

7
Observations from Appeals Process
  • Committee and Observation dates on hard copy need
to match the dates in IMS.
  • Hard copies of all internship documents must be
    on file in the district.
  • The intern must be given copies of all internship
    documents.
  • Online RTIY is a reporting mechanism for EPSB.
  • Handwritten RTIY puts intern on notice that
his/her performance does not meet all standards.
The PGP documents areas for professional growth
and is verification to show that the committee
has provided the intern notice of growth areas.

8
Observations from Appeals Process (contd)
  • Resource teacher and intern need to maintain
copies of all committee reports and other
    documents after each cycle.
  • RTIY and RTT are two different documents. Both
need to be signed by appropriate committee
    members and intern.

9
ePay
  • Once the RTIY has been approved by EPSB, the
intern will receive an email stating it has been
approved. The intern will log back into IMS and
under the RTIY there will be a button for ePay.

10
Resignations
  • Military or Medical Leave
  • ?Internship is placed on hold and the intern
    can pick-up where he/she left
    off.
  • ?EPSB will need a statement from the
    Superintendent detailing the facts
surrounding the leave. For medical, need
    doctors statement.
  • Other Reasons
  • ?There is a Resignation Form (add link) that
will need to be completed, signed and
    submitted to Sharon Salsman.

  • Mentoring is a degree of coaching over time.
  • Any activity that is during school hours cannot
    be counted as out-of-class time.
  • Any time the resource teacher is being paid by
the district/school cannot be counted as
    out-of-class time.
  • Observation is not an approvable out-of-class
    mentoring activity.

19
TPA Committee Survey
  • Each committee member and intern received via
    email a survey regarding TPA.
  • We hope to continue this survey in the future.

20
Certification Testing Requirements and Teachers
Taking Incorrect Tests
  • Please communicate to teachers that teacher
certification requirements are subject to change.
Before registering for a test or, if you must
retake a test, please refer to the EPSB website
    at http//www.kyepsb.net/assessment/index.asp for
current requirements. You may also contact Jaime
Rice at 502-564-4606 or toll free at
888-598-7667. We have had several teachers who do
not have contact with universities taking
incorrect tests and need help with communication.

21
RT Payments FY07 Future
  • KTIP will overrun the allotted funds for fiscal
year 2007 and has for the last three years.
  • KTIP risks falling short of funds in future
    years.
  • There has been an increase in the number of
interns and a decrease in funding from 2003 to
    2007.
  • Options on how to stay within the KTIP allotment
    is being considered by EPSB.
  • Every provision possible is being made to ensure
reducing RT payments is a last resort.
  • In the event that reduction in RT payments
becomes necessary, it would not be in effect
    until fiscal year 2008.
  • All RTs who served on intern committees for the
2006-2007 school year received the full 1,400.
  • EPSB plans to ensure reductions in resource
teacher payments remains a last resort by
continuing to seek addition funding for KTIP
through the Education Cabinet, GOPM, the
Legislative Agenda, and other sources of funding,
such as the Federal Perkins Grant funds that are
being received for FY07 and FY08.
  • EPSB requested an additional 1.5 million in the
2006 biennial budget and was denied.
