Summary

• Hi-Res ocean modeling in the tropical Atlantic
  reveals current and SST structures which a lower
  resolution did not simulate well.
• However, OGCM sistematic errors generate T-S
  vertical distribution over the tropical Atlantic
  which are in disagreement with observations.
• PIRATA data have shown essential to diagnose
  model deficiencies.
