8Using VC in the classroom
- Only switch the kit on when needed, stops other
users from dialling in un-announced. - Turn remote camera control off. We dont want the
other party panning the camera as they may be
children not allowed on camera at the side out of
shot. - Any recording must be acknowledged and agreed by
all parties
9- Letters home /parental agreement for children
signed off (may be part of a home/school
agreement done once a year) - Dont VC into public places Know who your
remote party is. To be certain use a booking
service either JVCS, Janet Video Conferencing
Service or YHGFL - Plan well ahead have a plan B just in case.
- Be aware of any AUP (For education in the UK will
be JANETs and the RBC.
10- VC at YHGFL
- We have a booking service, user can only be
added by YHGFL staff or a Local Authority
administrator. -
- We also have the ability to record sessions, the
system is only accessible by YHGFL and a number
of LA administrators. Sessions can be downloaded
and put on DVD. -
11Possible VC Policy statements
- VC equipment must be switched off when not in
use, and not set to auto-answer - External IP addresses will not be made available
to other sites - VC contact information will not be put on a
public website - The equipment will be locked away when not in use
- The equipment will not be taken off the premises
without permission. - Pupils will not use videoconferencing without
supervision
