Overview
  • The BTEC sports science course is a two year
    assignment assessed course. The students will
    take part in a carefully selected programme
    giving a wide variety of experiences. From
    practical sports analysis to research methods the
    students will be challenged throughout the year.
  • The units have been carefully selected to give
    the students the best opportunity to further
    their studies in any one of the chosen units.
  • The vastly experienced staff help to create a
    positive environment with students often being
    asked to lead parts of the sessions.

exercise
  • 1 Review the structure and functions of the major
    biological chemicals
  • 2 Evaluate the use of materials
  • 3 Describe the mechanics of motion
  • 4 Describe energy and energy transfer.

Unit 7 Anatomy for Sport and Exercise
  • 1 Investigate the structure, functions and
    development of the skeleton and relate the
    structure of joints to the movement they permit
  • 2 Explain muscle structure including the
    physiological basis of muscle fibre contraction
  • 3 Explore how the skeletal and neuro-muscular
    systems act on the skeleton to produce body
    movements
  • 4 Demonstrate an understanding of the
    cardiovascular and respiratory system.
