I think patriotic means supporting your
country when it needs it most. Like right now
with the terrorists bombing New York and the
Pentagon. Many Americans are supporting our
country right now, by hanging flags, wearing
T-shirts, and a lot more. My family is trying to
support the country as much as we can. I think
if our country goes to war about terrorism we
will win. Because this attack may have messed up
country but we are pulling together and helping
each other, and I think shows how great of a
country we live in.Justa

strong. And no one has the right to take our

• What does it mean to you to be an American?
• It means we are a free country. It also means
  we are united. That means we are a strong and
  noble country. We have a strong country and a
  strong soul. We all care about each other and we
  will stand united no matter what.

• Being an American means I am free to do what
  ever I want to do. It also means I can be
  whatever I want to be and I can say whatever I
  want to say. I can pick my own friends and I can
  pick my own enemies. I can be myself and not what
  other people want me to be. It means I will be
  able to be a teacher or a doctor and in other
  countries I would not be able to have these great
  choices. I would more or less be a slave in
  other countries. Here I have freedoms and I have
  rights. I know why they call America the land of
  opportunities. You have the opportunities to be
  yourself.

What does the flag represent? I think the flag
represents the USA. The stars and stripes stand
for all fifty states. It also stands for

  country in a time of need, or giving to your
  country or serving your country. I think I am
  serving my country by sending my thoughts to the
  victims in Washington D.C. and in New York.

What do you think the artist wants you to know?
I think the artist wants the teachers of the
United States to teach about God, flag, honor,
and country. The artist wants children to
understand how important our flag is to us. How
we should worship God. How, even if things are
going badly, to have our head up high, because we
are proud of our country. How, even if we have a
powerful military, we should keep our honesty,
our love, our practicalness, because our honor is
the most important thing Americans have.

The stars represent the 50 states and the stripes
represent the 13 colonies. To me the stars look
like 50 Carolinians swimming in Carolina blue
water. When the wind is blowing the stripes look
like one big wave crashing down. Amber

happened on Sept.11 was not right. Before that,
when we got up in the morning and went to school
we didnt care when we said the pledge. We just
thought we were talking to a flag. Now when we
get up we know what we are talking about. Now
when we say it in the morning we say it with

we can do really anything. Most of the other
countries arent free other than the USA so
that really should mean a lot to people here in
the United States of America. Right now I would
hate being in Afghanistan cause the little kids
have to carry guns around. I mean that is what
their whole life is, to carry
