Overview

• Jackie Robinson is considered by many people to
  be the founder of African American players in
  the major leagues. Many people also hated him.
  Although he is a baseball player, he affected the
  whole world in a big way.
• He stopped segregation in the sport of
  baseball, changing the world for the better.

Life Before Baseball

• Jackie Robinson was born in Cairo, Georgia in
  1919. He grew up being taunted because of the
  color of his skin, not who he really was. He
  played in the Negro American league before a life
  changing offer came from the dodgers
  organization. This would turn out to be one of
  the most important decisions made by the sport of
  baseball.

The Dodgers Dream

• After his career in the negro league, Jackie was
  offered a contract with the dodgers. He played in
  their farm league for the Montreal Monarchs
  before coming to the big leagues. Throughout his
  whole baseball career, he was the center of
  attention, and discrimination. He was taunted,
  and not played fairly. He had to show the world
  that he was just as good as the other player, and
  he did.

Ending Segregation

• Jackie Robinson was not only a one of the
  greatest baseball players of his time, he changed
  the sport of baseball in a way that no other man
  could. He stopped segregation. It was one of the
  most historic things a player ever did. He
  changed the world.

Conclusion to Task

• The conclusion I made to my task after
  researching Jackie Robinson is that the only
  reason it took him so long to get into the major
  leagues is segregation and the way people thought
  about black people. If he wasnt black, maybe the
  world wouldnt have changed. Maybe we wouldnt be
  the way we are today. Equal.
