the British Navy and was also arrested for debt.

Charles Dickens Facts Continued
  • Dickens was in love with his wifes sister after
    her death at 17.
  • He died of a stroke in his home on June 9, 1870
    at the age of 58.
  • He was in love with a woman at one time, who
found him around 20 years later and he didnt
love her anymore because she was fat and she had
    changed a lot.

Summary of Stave 1
  • In the first chapter of A Christmas Carol the
Ghost of Marley is introduced. He died on
Christmas Eve 7 years ago. He was Scrooges
business partner and he came to warn Scrooge
about the coming of 3 spirits. He was
transparent, and dangling chains followed behind
him made of money books, safes, and keys. Scrooge
was full of fear even though he tried to act like
he wasnt.Scrooge is trying to prepare himself
for the coming of these three spirits.

5
Summary of Stave 2
  • In Stave 2 the first of the three spirits
appeared to Scrooge. It was the Ghost of
Christmas Past and he came on the stroke of one.
It drew back Scrooges bed curtains and he was
filled with terror. He shows Scrooge what
Christmas was like when he was a young boy. He
really is trying to get him to love others like
    his sister, Fanny, loved him.

6
Summary of Stave 3
  • This stave introduced the coming of the Ghost of
Christmas Present. The spirit was wearing a deep
green robe, he wore a wreath around his head, and
he was bare foot. Mrs. Cratchit would not toast
Scrooge because he was mean to her husband, in
the vision the Ghost of Christmas Present showed
him. At the end of this stave Scrooge sees a
phantom coming toward him, which will be the
    final of the three spirits.

7
Summary of Stave 4
  • The newest phantom was the Ghost of Christmas Yet
to Come. He was completely silent when he met
Scrooge and he didnt show his face. He only
pointed with his finger to show Scrooge things.
Also in this stave Scrooges death is shown and
to his surprise no one even cares. Some are even
glad. The Cratchits are also grieving because
the death of their son Tiny Tim, but it is just a
    vision.

8
Summary of Stave 5
  • The ending of the book was very well written.
Scrooge has done a complete 360 on his life. He
is now kind and merry as he wakes up on Christmas
morning. He even buys a turkey for the Cratchits,
and the raises Bobs salary! Then he goes and
visits his nephew who he was very rude to the day
before. Fred is shocked at his coming. Scrooge
says that he will now live in the past, present
    and future.

9
Lesson Learned
  • In this story the definite lesson learned is that
you should always care about others and not be
greedy especially around the holidays. I think it
is sweet that Scrooge is now like a father to
Tiny Tim. I think this really proves that
everyone will love you if you are kind and caring
    to them.

10
Characters
  • Scrooge-he is the main character of the book that
changes from a cruel character to a kin hearted
    man.
  • Ghost of Marley- he was Scrooges business partner
and he come to warn Scrooge of the coming of the
    3 spirits
  • Ghost of Christmas Past- he had white hair and he
showed Scrooge what happened when he was a kid at
    Christmas.
  • Ghost of Christmas Present- he showed Scrooge a
lot of food and showed him the Cratchits house

11
More Characters
  • Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come- he was a silent
spirit and he showed Scrooge what would happen if
he died, and no one seemed to care.
  • Bob Cratchit- he was a man that worked for
Scrooge and was kind of poor
  • Tiny Tim- he was Bob Cratchits son who had a
disease and died in one of the visions lead by
    one of the spirits.

12
My Opinion
  • I think this book was very well written. I love
how Scrooge changed so much, from real cruel and
sinister to a sweet, kind, giving, man. It also
has a very wide use of big vocabulary words,
which increased my knowledge. This book teaches a
good lesson, always love people or one day you
    will be forgotten.

13
Theme
  • The theme of this book is mainly about the
transformation of a persons life and outlook on
Christmas due to begin scared to death by the
visit of three spirits. He sees his past, present
and future. He realizes that he has got to change
his ways or no one is going to care about his
death when he gone. Scrooge really changed for
    the better!
