• To acquaint YOU with how to TEACH students to
  LEARN
• To acquaint YOU with how to get along with P-12
  colleagues and studentshow to become a
• PROFESSIONAL EDUCATOR

Field Experience Design

• Must be Active and Participatory and
• of Service to the school
• Must be engaged with students in learning
  activities most of the time

Activities

• Whatever the collaborating teacher tells you to
  do!
• Work with individual students
• Work with groups
• Monitor/Assist class work
• Preparing content materials/ set up for class
• Routine tasksattendance, hand out materials,
  collect work
• Assist substitute when CT is absent
• Assist with instruction as appropriate
• Participate in lunch duty, playground
  supervision, bus duty
• OBSERVE CT or other teachersespecially Special
  Education
• READ School Handbook, School Improvement Plan,
  AYP Report, CTs lesson plans, text and teaching
  materials
• Attend student activities during or after school
  hoursfield trip, theater performance,
• special school program, sports event, band
  concert, club meeting, faculty meeting, school
  system board meeting (May count up to three
  hours.)

FX ISSUES

• If you are a full-time parapro, work full time
  in a public school, or are a full-time ASP worker
  in a public school.
• If you completed two semesters of YAP in high
  school
• If you live outside KSUs nine partnership
  districts.

Field Experience Facts

• 15 Hour Field Experience in a public school
• 2-3 hours per week for 5-8 Weeks
• Taking EDUC 2120 along with 2110 may create a
  hardship
• No process set up for placement in same school
  for 2110 and 2120
• Should have different teacher for 2110 and 2120
  if in same school.
• You are responsible for your transportation
• Signup on-line for your placement school
• Attend a MANDATORY Orientation at your placement
  school
• Be assigned to a collaborating teacher
• You and your CT will devise your visitation
  schedule
• 2110 FX cannot count for any other FX
• Cannot get paid
• Must complete FE to pass EDUC 2110
• Must fill out the on-line FX evaluation and
  present a confirmation sheet to your instructor
  to receive a grade
• Notify your instructor and OFE if you drop!!!
• Must have a clear criminal history and one
  million dollars of liability coverage.

CRIMINAL HISTORY

• Must complete these forms
• Consent Form, Undergraduate
• Personal Affirmation Form
• Return to me or instructor at end of class,
• or bring to KH Room 3221, or fax to
  770-420-4331.
• You cannot participate in the FX without a clear
  criminal history and one million dollars of
  liability insurance.

• Join GAE or SPAGE before signing up for a field
  placement. Go to bcoe.kennesaw.edu/2110
• for sign-up links.
• You will verify on the on-line sign-up that you
  have obtained insurance and that it is current.

How do I sign up for a school?

• On-line Sign-up - http//bcoe.kennesaw.edu/2110/
• View List of schools now.
• Orientation times will be listed soon
• Mapquest link to schools provided
• Plan several choices of schools (They fill
  quickly!)
• Sign-up goes live Wed., Sept 3, at 10 pm
• Sign-up closes Friday., Sept 5 at 10 am
• Absolutely no changes after sign-up closes
• You need your KSU ID
• Print and Keep your confirmation of placement

Sign-up Design

• Select a School Level then a Teaching Area
• Elementary -K-5, PE, Art, Music.
• Middle Grades Language Arts, math, science,
  social studies, art, band orchestra, chorus, PE,
  foreign language.
• High School English, math, science, social
  studies, economics, foreign language, art, band,
  orchestra, chorus, PE.
• List of Available Schools will appear.

Orientation at Placement SchoolMeet and Greet

• Go to www.kennesaw.edu/education/ofe, select EDUC
  2110, scroll to Collaborating Teacher Packet and
  print.
• Fill out KSU Student Contact Information .Put
  Packet in a folder and give to your CT on
  orientation day.
• Be on time and professionally dressed.
• The school will give you contact information for
  the CT.
• If you have to miss a class to attend the
  orientation,
• ask your instructor for an excuse letter.
• Go to the school districts web site and do some
• homework on your school.
• Do not bring your children!

FX Evaluation

• You must complete an on-line evaluation of the
  Field Experience after all FX hours are
  completed.
• You should go to bcoe.kennesaw.edu/2110 and fill
  out the evaluation anonymously.
• Print a confirmation.
• Give the confirmation sheet to your instructor in
  order to receive credit for the Field Experience.
