DEFINITION
iMovie is a digital video editing application.
You can edit movies you have captured with your
digital video camcorder and digital camera.
iMovie is a Macintosh product. iMovie lets you
pick out the good parts, snip out the slow or
boring parts, shuffle scenes around, include text
and transitions, and add sound.

Newest Version
iMovie 3 can be used with digital photos, pulling
in all your favorites from iPhoto and creating
your own documentary. Currently the School of
Education has iMovie 2 on the Macs in the labs.
Therefore, even though you can make movies easily
with iMovie 2, many of the effects offered in
iMovie 3 cannot be used.

Edit Movie
Editing your movies takes only minutes and can be
accomplished without following a manual.

Add Clips
To organize clips you add them to the timeline in
the order you want them.

Import Music or Sound
Adding music or sound to any movie is easy. Just
move the music or sound to the timeline. Any MP3
can be used.

Add Transitions
To give your movie the Hollywood treatment you
can add a number of transitions between clips.

The Finished Product
When you have finished with your movie you can
export it as a QuickTime file. This allows the
movie to be viewed on any platform. You can also
transfer your finished movies back to your
digital video camcorder (you can do it from
within iMovie), and from there record them to
tape on your VCR.

Camcorder Compatibility
Most camcorders will work with iMovie. Make sure
you have a FireWire Cable to connect the camera
to the computer.
