- Discussion and Conclusion
3Introduction (1/2)
- Why
- The world population is rapidly aging and at a
growing rate. - The related health costs.
- To enhance elder daily life independence and
reduce the social and economic overhead of elder
hospitalization. - How Ubiquitous computing and communication
- technologies
- Wireless network (Bluetooth?GSM /GPRS)
- A variety of Sensors (wearable biosensors)
- Portable Devices (mobile Phone?PDA)
4Service Analysis and Healthcare Scenarios
- Patients do not Upload Physiological Parameters
on schedule - Result of Measurement is Abnormal and our system
Automatically infors Care Providers

7System Architecture
- tracing information packages (TIPs)
- TIP(TIPID, EventID, EdlerID, State, DateTime)
- TIPID is the increasing serial number of each
TIP. - EventID is the unique event ID,
- ElderID is the elders social ID number referred
to as ELDER entity.
8System Software Designs(1/3)
- Blood Pressure and Pulse Monitor software Module
- ECG Monitor Module
- Healthcare Center Server Program Design
9System Software Designs(2/3)
- Unified Modeling Language (UML)
- The design phases are as follows
- requirement analysis,
- object model design,
- code implementation for software model,
- simulator execution,
- And upload to real mobile phone Nokia 7610 for
final test.
10System Software Designs(3/3)
- The Healthcare center host
- Borland C Builder 6.0,
- ActiveX data objects (ADO) components are used
to access ACCESS database, - advance technology (AT) command instruction set
is used to control GSM module to transmit and
receive short message.

14Healthcare Center Server Program Design(2/3)
15Healthcare Center Server Program Design(3/3)
16t , T, dt1, dt2 and dt3 t is the elapsed
time after alter is transmitted. T is the
default deadline. dt1 is the urgent deadline
dt2 is the critical deadline dt3 is the very
critical deadline
17 System Implementation(1/5)
- three main portions
- Front-end wireless mobile care devices including
- the Bluetooth hemadynamometer
- and wireless ECG extraction device
- A commercial mobile phone of model Nokia 7610 was
used. - A healthcare center server
- applications
18 System Implementation(2/5)
Implementation of Blood Pressure and Pulse
Monitor Software Module in the Mobile Phone
19 System Implementation(3/5)
Implementation of ECG Monitor Software Module in
the Mobile Phone
20 System Implementation(4/5)
Implementation of Monitor Software Module in
Healthcare Center Server
21 System Implementation(5/5)

Healthcare Center Server(1/2)
24 System Performance Evaluation
Implementation of Monitor Software Module in
Healthcare Center Server(2/2)
- The results show that the best and worst time
latency of Tsmslatency are 4.36 and 17.36 s. - The patient will receive healthcare no later than
17 min and 30.8 s after the alert is initiated. - The back-end healthcare center will receive
related response messages from healthcare
providers in the third level within 20 min and
30.8 s.
25 System Performance Evaluation
Questionnaire Survey and Evaluation of System
Costs
- the capital cost for the system setup is about
NT 5000 and the operating cost is only NT 200. - the cost for the Bluetooth wireless
hemadynamometer is NT 3000 - The Nokia 7610 mobile phone costs only NT 2000
- the monthly fee of NT 200 for unlimited sending
of SMS within the same telecom network.
26Discussion and Conclusion(1/2)
- This paper has proposed a role-based mobile
healthcare system for chronic patients with an
integration of multiple physiological parameter
extraction devices. - The capital cost for the system setup is about
NT 5000 and the operating cost is only NT 200.
27Discussion and Conclusion(2/2)
- Is it slow for a patient to get services in 17
min ? - Is it cheap enough for a patient to pay NT 5000
in order to get the service ? - The fatal problem is that the healthcare provider
does not know accuracy position of the patient.
