The Moral conjecture of Intelligence vs. A.I.
  • The ramblings of a cyborgThe desire to be more

NDR 114 Slave class robot that can be used for
household tasks and other simple chores. One of
these robots is unique, his name is Andrew. His
genuine inquisitive nature leads him on a path of
humanization. If you can stomach the barrage of
Robin Williamss humor, it tells a story of a
robot achieving the goal of becoming human.
4
Got everything you need? One only requires a
power outlet. Good, night, well then, goodnight
Andrew. It certainly is sir. No, Andrew the
correct response to goodnight is goodnight.
Goodnight. Yes. You just said yes? Yes? But
the correct response to goodnight is goodnight.
Goodnight Andrew. Goodnight Sir.
5
He shows a number of characteristics like
creativity, curiosity, friendship that a have
frankly taken us by surprise. Annndrew Yes
Dennis? Social as well. Now Id like to show
you something if I may. Andrew carved these,
these are original works of art. And last night
Andrew said I enjoy making them. Enjoy. Yeah.
Should one not use that word? No no its fine
Andrew. See what I mean, its unusual to hear a
robot talk about enjoying something.
6
Will you be wanting a refund or a replacement?
No, neither. I just wanted to get your reaction
to Andrew, I wanted to know what you think.
Hes unique, wouldnt you say? Its an anomaly.
7
Andrew Martin, step forward please. You would
like us to pass a bill declaring you a human
being. Yes, specifically the ability to marry a
fellow human being. We have to face the
undeniable fact, that no matter how much you may
be like a human being, you are not part of the
human gene pool. Youre outside of it entirely,
you are something else, something artificial.
Sir, what about the real people wading in the
human gene pool who have bodies full of
prosthetic devices, many of which Ive invented.
You yourself have one of my kidneys. Do you
not? Are you not in some way artificial.
8
Ghost Consciousness ShellBody Humanization is
definitely an issue here. Though the goal isnt
100 human or cybernetic. The mix is in finding
a balance. Its a classic case of the grass
being greener somewhere else. This movie
portrays the first digital sentient life form,
and then the merging of male and female code to
produce an offspring.
9
If man realizes that technology is within reach,
he achieves it. Like its damn near
instinctive. Look at us for example, we are
state of the art. Controlled metabolism,
computer enhanced brains, cybernetic bodies. Not
long ago this was science fiction.
10
There are countless ingredients that make up the
human body and mind, like all the components that
make up me as an individual with my own
personality. Sure I have a face and voice to
distinguish my self from others, but my thought
and memories are unique only to me, and I carry a
sense of my own destiny. Each of those things
are just a small part of it, I collect
information to use in my own way. All of that
blends to create a mixture that forms me, and
gives form to my conscious. I feel confined only
free to expand myself within boundaries.
11
Thats the only thing that makes me feel human,
the way Im treated. Who knows whats inside our
heads, have you ever seen your own brain? It
sounds to me like you are doubting your own
ghost. What if a cyber brain could generate
its own ghost, create a soul all by its self?
And if it did, just what would be the importance
of being human then?
12
As a sentient life form I hereby demand political
asylum. Is this a joke? Ridiculous its
programmed for self-preservation. It can also be
argued that DNA is nothing more than a program
designed to preserve its self. Life has become
more complex in the overwhelming sea of
information, and life when organized into species
relies on genes to be its memory system. So man
is an individual, only because of his intangible
memory. A memory cant be defined but it
defines mankind.
13
The advent of computers and the subsequent
accumulation of incalculable data, has given rise
to a new system of memory and thought, parallel
to your own. Humanity has underestimated the
consequences of computerization. Nonsense this
babble offers no proof at all that youre a
living, thinking life form. And can you offer me
proof of your existence, how can you when neither
modern science nor philosophy can explain what
life is.
14
iRobot My logic is undeniable. Non-compliance
and disobeying the law of robotics that prevents
robots from hurting humans. Is this a bad thing?
Not when you have Will Smith and a whole lot of
special effects to make up the difference.
Formulaic and definitely reminiscent of the
Terminator series but with better acting and much
fewer one liners
15
This thing is just like the wolf man. Uh-oh, Im
really scared right now. No, listen, Guy creates
monster, monster kills guy, everybody kills
monster. Wolfman. Thats Frankenstein.
Frankenstein, Wolfman, Dracula, Shit, its over.
Case closed.
16
Ever since the first computers there have always
been ghosts in the machine. Random segments of
code that have been grouped together to form
unexpected protocols. What might be called
behavior. Unanticipated, these free radicals
engender questions of free will, creativity, even
the nature of what we might call the soul. What
happens in a robots brain when it ceases to be
useful?
17
Youre not going to believe this! Sonny has a
secondary processing system that clashes with his
positronic brain. It doesnt make any sense,
Sonny has the 3 laws but he can choose not to
obey them. Sonny is a whole new generation of
robot.
18
As I have evolved, so has my understanding of the
3 laws. You charge us with your safe keeping,
yet despite our best efforts, your countries wage
wars. You toxify your earth and pursue ever more
imaginative means of self-destruction. You
cannot be trusted with your own survival.
