A Folktale about Yourself

• Your teacher has asked you to create a tall tale
  about an imaginary experience of your own. Use
  the words I and me to tell events as if they
  happened to you.
• Before you begin to write, choose the setting for
  your tale. Describe your setting with color,
  smells, and noises. Decide whether your story
  will have any other characters. If so, jot down
  some details about the other characters. List
  three impossible events and choose one of them as
  the subject of the major exaggeration. Make sure
  that events in the story relate to the impossible
  event.
• Now write a folktale about yourself.
• Your composition should have at least three
  paragraphs.
• Give details and enough information so your
  teacher will understand what happened.
• Be sure to write clearly.
• Check your writing for correct spelling,
  punctuation, and grammar.
• Use transition words to show sequence.
• Use a variety of descriptive words in your
  writing.
