Universal Precautions

• Assume all human blood is infectious
  
• just as one assumes all sneezes are infectious

Wash Your Hands

• Wet hands under warm running water.
• Thoroughly soap hands, rubbing all surfaces for
  at least 15 seconds.
• Rinse and dry hands with paper towel.
• Turn off water with paper towel.
• Use lotion if you wish.

• disinfect work surfaces with 1 part bleach to 9
  parts water.

  anticipated occupational exposure to potentially

First AidHow to Protect Yourself

• Put on latex gloves that are kept in the first
  aid kit.
• Assist victim to help themselves. Put own their
  hand pressure on wound.
• Use a barrier between you and victim's blood.
  Apply pressure with a wad of clothing.

Remember

• INTACT skin is an excellent barrier to bloodborne
  diseases. Only at risk of infection if blood
  touches broken skin and mucous membranes.
