uppermost in his mind when he sat at the table

arts) from Cranbrook academy of art American
post modern art sculptor Known for his life sized
photorealistic works of human Used resin and
fiberglass Most of his sculptures are in 3-D His
work were politically challenging

Born in January 17 1925 Member of the super
realist of the late 1960s His painting addressed
human attitudes such as fatigue, frustration,
rejection, irony and humor By 1967 he began
casting sculptures in molds created directly from
the bodies of human models Hanson received his BA
from Macalister College in 1946 and his MFA from
the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills,
Michigan in 1951. In 1941, he made a trip to
Minneapolis, where he visited an art museum for
the first time. One of the first sculptures
Hanson created after moving to South Florida in
1965 was Abortion, a two-foot-long mixed-media
rendering of a dead pregnant woman sprawled on a
table and covered with a sheet. . From 1962-1965,
Hanson was an art professor at Oglethorpe
University in Atlanta Died in January 6, 1996
