Wrist Exercises
  • The following exercises were created by the
    American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Use of
    the exercises may reduce the development of
    carpal tunnel syndrome. The exercises should be
    done at the start of the workday and after each
    break. If you are currently diagnosed with
    carpal tunnel syndrome, consult with your
    physician before using the wrist exercises.

Extend and stretch both wrists and fingers
acutely, as if they are in a hand-stand position.
Hold the position for a count of five.

Straighten both wrists and relax the fingers for
a count of five.

Make a tight fist with both hands for a count of
five.

Then bend both wrists down, while keeping the
fist position. Hold for a count of five.

Straighten both wrists and relax the fingers, for
a count of five.

Repeat the group of exercises ten times, then
hang the arms loosely at the side of the body and
shake the hands for a couple of seconds. The
exercises should take five to ten minutes.
