Title: Course Selection for Rising Seniors

1
Course Selection for Rising Seniors
St. Francis Catholic High School
  • Class of 2008

2
Lets review some important elements of
scheduling courses
  • Core 19 courses are required to graduate from
SFCHS with our Advanced College Prep equivalent
    diploma 28 total credits.
  • There are three levels of courses College Prep,
    Honors, and Advanced Placement.
  • There are two basic types of Elective courses.
General electives, the first type, satisfy
    graduation requirements (i.e. drama, art,
technology, P.E.) and the second type are
electives that make a students high school
transcript look more competitive (i.e. language,
science, social studies electives). A balanced
choice of electives looks good to admissions
officers and some may raise your Bright Futures
and/or College Admissions GPA. BF and College
Admissions will re-calculate your GPA based on
    specific required credits.
  • If you wish more information regarding Bright
    Futures, visit http//www.myfloridaeducation.com/b
rfuture/. See the Comprehensive Course Table
(under Quick Links) to identify courses that
count toward each award level. Note Private
school students cannot check their progress
toward BF. Students may conference with Mrs.
Borden to determine their BF status.

  • Students who have fulfilled their requirements
may choose to take an elective.
  • Senior elective choices are listed on the back of
the 12th Grade Course Selection Worksheet.
Frequently, scheduling conflicts will require a
Senior to change their plans in this area. They
may have to change the individual course or the
type of course. Academic placements have
preference over elective courses in each
    students schedule.
  • There are a few electives that require an
