There are 3 layers of bone

• Spongy layer
• Compact layer
• Marrow

There are 206 bones in the human body.

• The longest bone is the femur (upper leg).
• The smallest bones are found inside the ear.
• When 2 or more bones come together, we call that
  a joint.

Purposes

• Support and shape -Bones help to hold our bodies
  up straight.
• Movement-Bones allow our bodies to bend.
• Protection-Bones protect some of our body parts,
  such as the brain and lungs.

Bones have cool names

• The 26 bones in the spine are the vertebrae.
• Your head bone is really the skull.
• Your shoulder bones are the clavicles.
• The breastbone is the sternum.
• The kneecap is really the patella.

There are 3 kinds of connective tissue

• LIGAMENTS-hold the bones together at the joints
• TENDONS-connect muscles to the bones
• CARTILAGE-protects bones and helps them move
  smoothly

• What happens if you break a bone?
• What can you do to take care of your skeleton?
• Do animals have the same number of bones that we
  do?
