2Undergraduate Admission
- Submit an admissions application and a 20.00
application fee. - Apply online at http//admissions.nmsu.edu/ or
mail application to Office of Enrollment
Services. - At the time of processing your application, you
will be issued an NMSU Banner ID number that will
be linked to your social security number. - Request official transcripts to be mailed from
all colleges attended. A high school transcript
is needed if less than 30 college credits has

3Graduate Admission
- Submit an admissions application and 30.00
application fee - Apply online at http//gradschool
.nmsu.edu/admit-form.html or mail application to
the Graduate School - There are no deadlines for applying to the
graduate school however to receive maximum
consideration for financial assistance it is best
to apply as soon as possible. - Check with your respective departments to ensure
that you meet departmental deadlines (if any) and
submit all supporting documents (e.g., letters of
recommendation, GRE/GMAT Scores, etc.). Send all
departmental documents directly to the
department. - If your respective academic department has a
deadline, it is recommended that you submit your
application to the graduate school at least 30

4Admission Requirements
- Undergraduate (UG) A cumulative 2.00 grade point
average and be eligible to return to your last
institution. - Graduate (GR) An admissions decision cannot be
made until the entire application packet has been
received. Students must meet departmental
requirements in order to be admitted into a
program. - Students whose graduate application is still
pending and wish to take graduate courses may
apply for non-degree admission.
5Once You Have Been Admitted
- UG evaluation of transfer credits will be
completed by the Registrars Office and approved
by your academic college. - In order to use the many convenient features of
myNMSU, you must first activate your account.
Activating your account includes a simple, three
step process which can be found at - https//my.nmsu.edu/cp/home/displaylogin
6Registration
- UG - Contact your academic advisor once your
evaluation of credits has been approved. - Class schedules are available online at
http//www.nmsu.edu/course/ - Distance Education courses are designated as
sections M70 M89. - Register for your NMSU courses online at myNMSU.
Click on the Student and Financial Aid tab.
Then click on the Registration link.
7Completion of Registration
- Students may complete their registration by
choosing one of the following options - 1) paying in full or,
- 2) paying a 10 deposit of tuition charges and
participating in the payment plan or, - 3) submitting applicable waiver/deferment third
party billing agreements to the Business Office
by the registration deadlines. - Students authorized to receive grant, loan or
scholarship aid through the NMSU Student
Financial Aid Office may substitute this aid for
the 10 down payment, provided that the financial
aid award is available. - If the registration down payment is not paid by
the deadline date, it will result in
disenrollment and cancellation of your reserved
classes.
8Methods of Payment
- Students have the option of
- 1) paying in person, or
- 2) calling the automated credit card payment
system at 646-1680 (from Las Cruces) or (toll
free) 1-888-PAY-NMSU (1-888-729-6678), or - 3) contacting the NMSU Cashiers Office at (505)
646-3927, or - 4) accessing the internet at myNMSU. Click the
Student and Financial Aid tab. Then click on
the Student Account link, or - 5) mailing a payment to NMSU Accounts
Receivable-MSC 4570, PO Box 30001, Las Cruces, NM
88003. - Our phone credit card and on-line payment systems
are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
9Costs
- NMSU Distance Education tuition and fees are the
same rate as main campus plus a 15 per credit
hour Distance Education fee. - Additionally, some courses have their own special

10Graduate Tuition and Fees
- (1) Per semester for 12-18 credits including
Health/Activity Fees - NM residents 2,390.40
- Non residents 7,279.20
- (2) Per credit for 1 to 11 or over 18 credits
- NM residents 199.20
- Non residents 606.60
- Nonresidents enrolling in 6 or less credits at
main campus pay NM Resident Cost - Note a 15 per credit hour Distance Education
fee will also be assessed.

12Financial Aid (for UG and GR)
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA) for the academic year you plan to
attend. - The FAFSA can be submitted before you apply for
admissions but you must be admitted before your
financial aid can be awarded. - Apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov or mail in the

13NMSU Scholarships
- Submit the NMSU Scholarship application by March
1st at http//fa.nmsu.edu/sch.html for both UG
and GR. - Transfer Tuition Scholarship (UG only)
- 1) Contact NMSU Scholarship department to
receive full consideration. - 2) Award Tuition and fees for a new entering
transfer student - 3) Requirements New Mexico resident,
transferring from a New Mexico branch, community,
or junior college with between 30 and 90 total
credits attempted at all institutions and a
minimum GPA of 3.5. - 4) Renewable 3.5 cumulative NMSU GPA and 12
credit hours earned each semester. Scholarship
award is for a maximum of four semesters. For top
consideration, a scholarship application is
required.
14Tribal Scholarships
- Contact your Tribal Higher Education Office for
information on their application process. - Most tribes will require the following documents
to be submitted - 1) Application for tribal scholarship
- 2) Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB)
- 3) Transcript (s)
- 4) Letter of Admission for students attending
the university for the first time or
Enrollment Verification Form from the university
you are currently enrolled - 5) Financial Needs Analysis (FNA)
