- Pre-Award
- Review Proposal Routing and Approval Form (PRAF)
and proposal budgets for compliance with
University policies and procedures and federal
regulations - Interpret and inform faculty of sponsor
requirements and regulations - Provide advice and assistance to faculty in the
preparation of proposals, budgets and compliance
with sponsor guidelines - Complete representation and certification
information required by sponsor - Approve and record all proposals submitted by the
University

- Assist faculty with electronic proposal
submission requirements - Provide electronic forms and spreadsheets to
assist faculty in proposal and budget preparation
- Submit notices of intent and proposals
electronically where required by sponsor - Coordinate with LSU Office of Computing Services,
Sponsored Program Accounting (SPA), and ORGS in
the administration of electronic research
administration initiatives (e.g. LSU Sponsored
Programs System SPS, under development)

- Pre-Award (continued)
- Receive, negotiate and approve all award
documents with federal, state, private and other
organizations - Review terms and conditions of all awards for
compliance with University policies and
procedures and federal regulations - Prepare, negotiate and approve additional
agreements such as sales of service, facility use
and indemnity agreements - Upon approval of funding, transfer all grants and
contracts to Sponsored Program Accounting (SPA)

- Post-Award
- Assist SPA in the administration of sponsored
awards - Provide advice and assistance to PIs in the
administration of their research project(s) and
in the interpretation of award terms and
conditions - Review and approve requests for modifications to
funded projects (e.g. request for revised budget,
change of PI, etc.) - Approve official amendments to awards received
from sponsors - Prepare and negotiate subcontract agreements
- Act as Point of Contact for audits of sponsored
projects
